Assessment & Testing

Psychological testing or psychological assessment refers to the use of an array of measures designed to explore an individual’s cognitive, personality, and emotional functioning. The general goal of psychological testing is to gather information about current emotional functioning, personality style, and to explore emotional themes in an individual’s life.  Psychological testing can provide important information about an individual’s:

  • Personality structure
  • Relationship styles
  • Life themes
  • Cognitive or belief frameworks (or schema)
  • Treatment needs
  • Response to treatment

Following the evaluation, the psychologist will discuss the findings from the assessment and explore how some of the results can be incorporated into the client’s therapeutic work.  Clients often find that participating in a brief evaluation process can deepen the therapeutic experience and accelerate the treatment process.
